Remember though when we ask questions in present simple we need to use do or does ... in this case do because sea lion are "they" (more than 1, right?)
so it would be...
1.- Why do sea lions have a thick layer of fat? 3.- Why do sea lions have big teeth?
number 2 is perfect! (you don't need "do" there because you have verb to be ("is")
